Jordi Torrent

Jordi Torrent manages the Media and Information Literacy and Education initiatives at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and is a media-maker who has produced, written, and directed television programs, documentaries, and feature films. Previously, he was a Media Educator Consultant for the Department of Education of New York City from 1990 to 2007, where he created Media Literary Education programs as well as conducted media education workshops for educators and parents. From 2004-2008, he was co-director of “Overseas Conversations”, a series of international conferences focusing on youth, media, and education. He co-edited the book, “Mapping Media Education Policies in the World”, published by UNAOC and UNESCO. After obtaining a degree in Philosophy at the University of Barcelona, Jordi following graduate studies at Sorbonne University in Paris (Film Aesthetics) and at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Anthropology Filmmaking).
